Sweet Revelations was founded by Rachel Faitala-Malae and is based in Dunedin, New Zealand. Opening in 2022, Sweet Revelations started out as a micro-bakery, offering Triple Chocolate Brownies and Paifala (pineapple pies). Rachel has crafted many celebration cakes, cupcakes and cookies and has established herself as the brownie lady in her community. Not only has Rachel managed to successfully open a home bakery, she has added catering to her repertoire, aiming to be another catering option for our Pacific Island communities in Dunedin. Pacific Island cuisine like sapa-sui, talo, pani-popo, takihi, palusami and other home comfort food are some of the offerings found on Sweet Revelations catering menu. The business began by offering pre-orders as a way of bringing baked treats to the community, attend several local markets and has gained a loyal following on Facebook and Instagram. Since opening in 2022, a few changes to streamline the business included ceasing pre-orders and offering more made-to-order cakes and treats. The addition of adding catering services in 2023 also proved to be a positive move towards the businesses growth with exciting opportunities ahead. Rachel's goal to open up her own catering restaurant is a dream that her and her husband have been working towards, which is an achievement that is supported by her Pacific Island community, family and friends.
Operating from their DCC registered home kitchen in Dunedin, Rachel has had to balance the work and family-life responsibilities with her husband Kalani. She has integrated unique family care values into the business, some of which include positivity, kindness and community. These have helped shape and form the foundations of the business.
