Rachel - Founder/Owner

Fakaalofa lahi atu. Kia ora, my name is Rachel.

Welcome to Sweet Revelations!

As a self-taught baker, my earliest memory of experimenting with food was when I was about 10 years old. Watching my Mum and Dad make delicious umu food and cater to numerous events and functions, it is no wonder I have stepped into the food industry.

Dunedin is my home after spending most of my childhood in the coastal town of Opunake. I have called Dunedin my home for almost 20 years and have had many achievements since; graduating from University, getting married and then raising children with my husband. I have a background in business management, wedding & event management and design studies. My introduction into a career in the food industry came late in life yet I am loving every part of it. It has helped grow a passion of mine that I truly believe has been part of my life.

And if you didn't already know, I love to bake! I love to bake for others, and I love to see people enjoy themselves when they know the food tastes good. So, it seemed only natural to lean towards a career in serving others. That is my REVELATION! Realizing the exact moment where I knew I could brighten someone's day, by making something SWEET & somewhat good for you. It gave me all the feels. This equaled with my passion to eat and to try different types of food, has further fueled my passion; to provide a purposeful need that will help nourish the body and feed the soul. That's how the name Sweet Revelations was born.

The love and support from my family, friends and customers has really been the highlight of opening my own business. Looking after our people and making sure they can have that sweet treat, or extra helping of sapa-sui or raw fish; is a fulfilling and rewarding experience that gives me joy.

Thank-you so much for stopping by and sharing the love. I look forward to feeding you and your loved ones soon!

Fakaaue lahi.

*My Dairy Free cakes have been my most popular food offering to date. I decided to include a Dairy-Free (DF) alternatives for some of my baked goods, as the demand for DF & GF food especially in baking, was increasing. My daughter also has allergies and finding a dairy free cake recipe for her 2nd birthday was the pivotal movement, my revelation, that I have to find more alternative food for my daughter and family
